Government Subsidy Service Assistance

Indian economy is a base on agriculture and agriculture is the principal source of livelihood for more than 58% of the population of this country. Agriculture provides the bulk of wage goods required by non-agriculture sectors and most of the raw materials for the industries sector. So government of India set up various agencies and implement various schemes to develop agriculture sector, some which are as NHM, NHB, NCPAH, SFAC, HMNEH, RKVY etc.

Mission for Integrated Development of Horticulture (MIDH) is a Centrally Sponsored Scheme for the holistic growth of the horticulture sector covering fruits, vegetables, root & tuber crops, mushrooms, spices, flowers, aromatic plants, coconut, cashew, cocoa and bamboo. While Government of India (GOI) contributes 85% of total outlay for developmental programmes in all the states except the states in North East and Himalayas, 15% share is contributed by State Governments. In the case of North Eastern States and Himalayan States, GOI contribution is 100%. MIDH have may sub-schemes and are of operation as NHM, HMNEH, NBM, NHB, CDB,CIH. All schemes are working under roof of MIDH

NHM (National Horticulture Mission)

It was launched under the 10th five-year plan in the year 2005-06. The NHM’s key objective is to develop horticulture to the maximum potential available in the state and to augment production of all horticultural products (fruits, vegetables, flowers, plantation crops, spices, medicinal aromatic plants) in the state.

NHB (National Horticulture Board)

NHB was set up by the Government of India in 1984 as an autonomous society under the Societies Registration Act 1860. Board has its Head Quarter in Institutional Area, Sector 18, Gurgaon (Haryana).

NHB Provides Assistance under the scheme of “Development of Commercial Horticulture through

Production and Post-Harvest Management of horticulture crops” Under this scheme NHB provides 50% subsidy up to different cost for different crops as below:

Interest Subsidy

Government of Gujarat shall provide Interest Subsidy @ 6% per annum on interest on term loan as per Agro Industries Policy of State Government. For provide subsidy, Gujarat Government appointed a nodal agency as “Gujarat Agro Industries Corporation Ltd.”

Electricity Bill Subsidy

Government of Gujarat (through Office of Director of Horticulture, Ministry of Agriculture & Co-operation.) shall provide relief @ 25% on Electricity Bills for Greenhouse w.e.f. FY 2006-07 as per GR No. Horti-302005/3508/k-8 dated 20.11.2006 of Government of Gujarat, Ministry of Agriculture & Co-operation.

Venture Capital Assistance Scheme under SFAC (SmallFarmers’ Agri-Business Consortium)

Farming is the single largest private sector economic activity in the country. Agribusiness entrepreneurs are generally first generation entrepreneurs who have business skills but their financial resources are limited for setting up units at the farm gate with the backward linkages. In order to facilitate agribusiness development in the country SFAC venture capital scheme will
(a) Assist agripreneurs to make investments in setting up agribusinesses through financial participation, and
(b) Provide financial support for preparation bankable Detailed Project Reports (DPRs) through Project Development Facility (PDF).

Under VCA Scheme SFAC will assist for capital of minimum from below:

26% of total project equity

50.00 Lacs

It will be repayable back to SFAC after the repayment of term loan of lending bank as per original repayment scheme or earlier.

“EIPL” is enlisted in National committee on Plasticulture Applications in Horticulture (NCPAH) data base.
